## How the Old English F is built

Capital F has a decorative top bar that often swoops down from the left. The lowercase f descends below the baseline in many blackletter designs and carries a short crossbar.

## Easily confused with

Lowercase f and lowercase s are the trap: in Fraktur the long s (ſ) and f look almost identical, and even the regular 𝔰 shares the tall shape. The f has a full crossbar; the s does not.

## Where people use it

F carries some of the most popular tattoo words, Familia, Faith and Forever, and football club initials such as F.C.

## Example words

- Familia: 𝕱𝖆𝖒𝖎𝖑𝖎𝖆
- Faith: 𝕱𝖆𝖎𝖙𝖍
- Forever: 𝕱𝖔𝖗𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖗
- Fernandez: 𝕱𝖊𝖗𝖓𝖆𝖓𝖉𝖊𝖟
- F.C.: 𝕱.𝕮.
